天涯 ~ UNDEAD CORPORATION

I think I’ve already expressed my love for this circle, but I’ll fag some more. Pine’s lyrics are awesome, Pinetree arrangements are awesome, and since they’ll both be present in UNDEAD CORPORATION’s next album, I’m quite curious about what they’ll made. I’m not sure about what expecting from a Jazz Vocal album by UNDEAD CORPORATION, but I hope it’ll be a CD full of surprises and nice songs~

Pine’s lyrics are always so cool, and so damn hard to translate. I personally love how she, for what I’ve seen, bases her lyrics on legends or tales; this adds something “magic” to them, making the songs even more awesome than how they already are. She’s surely one of the lyricists I prefer despite the fact I sometimes want to throw away everything when trying to translate her lyrics. Okay, I guess I’ve fagged over UNDEAD CORPORATION Pine enough, time to move on the actual translation~

“天涯 | Distant Land”; despite the fact I’ve seen this title translated a lot as “Horizon”, I’ve preferred translate it as “Distant Land” because of the last line of the lyrics. “Horizon Moon” to me means nothing, and I’ve seen that line as if it was referred to a moon of another “world”.

“燈明消し | The sacred light”; “燈明” are those candles or torches offered to a god or Buddha –thus why I’ve decided to add the “sacred” in the translation. If you have no idea what they look like, just google it, I bet you’ve seen them quite often, especially if you’re used to watch anime –a certain Higurashi illustration comes to my mind~
“酔うて | How everyone”; “妖異” is pronounced as “Ayakashi”, and the whole phrase gets a different meaning if seen in this way –and well, it’s impossible to have this “double” meaning in English. The “alternative” translation would sound ridiculous among the line of “Being drunk is for all the spirits”. I’m not really sure what’s the meaning behind this, probably is part of a legend or some tale, but at the moment I’m too lazy to search it and I’m not even sure those lyrics are based on any.
“ぞぶりぞぶりと | Zoburi, zoburi”; as for me, there’s no way to find an equivalent “sound” in English. If someone has any idea and wants to share it, I’d be really glad~
“こりりこりりと | Koriri, koriri”; same as above. Except for the fact I’d translated it as “Crunch”, but in the end decided to keep the “mysterious” atmosphere and left “koriri”.
“いくたびこの山 | Many times”; here the word used at the end is not “spirit” but “smoke”, but considering the context, my interpretation is that this “smoke” is actually the people’s soul.
